  • Pride on the Plains Parade

    Pride on the Plains will be hosting the Auburn-Opelika area's FIRST Pride Parade on Friday, June 1 in the heart of Opelika!

    Complete with floats, music and guest speakers, there will be plenty to see and do at the Pride on the Plains Pride Parade! The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Opelika and end with guest speakers from around the state, including Auburn University alum and LGBTQ activist Darcy Corbitt.

    Pride on the Plains, a non-profit group in the Auburn-Opelika area that promotes diversity, inclusion and acceptance, is pleased to announce the first Pride on the Plains Festival!

    Join us on Saturday, June 2 from noon - 6 p.m. at Kiesel Park as we celebrate the LGBTQ community and its allies in our area with the first Pride on the Plains festival! There will be a full day of family-friendly programming and activities, live music, local vendors, advocacy groups, non-profits and guest speakers throughout the day - and our guest speakers are ones you will not want to miss! There will be appearance by Chi Chi Devayne, from Ru-Paul’s Drag Race Season 8 and Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars Season 3; nationally renowned drag king, Spikey Van Dikey; the nation’s number-one Lady GaGa impersonator, Aurora Savage; Mr. Pride on the Plains 2018, Derek H. Wood; Miss Pride on the Plains 2018, Addison Vontrell; and The Golden Girls of DeRailed Bar & Grill, Imberli Vontrell, Cora Bleu, Santana Sangria, and Colana Bleu!

    Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site from local vendors, including Dumps Like A Truck, Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ, Momma Goldberg’s Deli, Philly Connection, Steel City Pops, Smooth-N-Groove, and more! Alcohol vendors will be available to guests 21 and over with acceptable photo identification. Pride on the Plains appreciates our guests’ cooperation regarding alcohol policies.

    Pride Festival opening ceremonies are at 12:00 PM, with guest speakers Mallory Hagan, Lee county native and former Miss America, and Chad Peacock, current Pride on the Plains President!

    This event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Headliner "Meet-and-Greet" tickets are are limited and can only be purchased onsite during the Pride Festival. Tickets must be redeemed during designated “meet and greet” hours, without exception.
